The selection process this year, like last year, was long and difficult, if only because we believe so wholeheartedly in the strength, craftsmanship, and lasting impact of every piece of writing we’ve published since our conception, but we do want to give these nominees our utmost congratulations, and best of luck in the nomination process!

Announcing the Overture to Memory Longlist

Over the past few months, we have been overwhelmed with the sheer volume of submissions we have received for our Inaugural Writing Awards, Overture to Memory, especially from teen writers and those who are new and emerging writers. The level of skill and raw talent that permeates the dozens upon dozens of poems, short stories, and creative nonfiction pieces we have read and discussed cannot go unsaid. We are pleased that so many people have called upon themselves to explore what it means to remember. The impact of memory on reality, on our perception of self, on the existence of a shared or singular "truth," and how we navigate life and our place within the world are carefully and exquisitely explored in these wonderfully stark, poignant, and compelling pieces.

We cannot begin to describe how thankful we are to the numerous writers, poets, artists, painters, photographers, and other creatives who have coated our first year of operations with such light and joy and purpose. We would not be where we are today without the contributors who have put faith into our journal, the readers who make curating each issue worthwhile, and the team who has allowed L'Éphémère Review to flourish and thrive since the very beginning.
