BLOODMEMORY

I am haunted by the halls
the arches and the lawns
the broad oak windowsills
of a house where I have never lived.

I am stirred by the scent
of an old orange grove
dusty leaves and golden citrus globes
of an orchard I have never known.

I am longing for the voice
the familiar caress
the lingering scent
of a lover I have never had.
